The Season of Paid Development for Performing Artists and Artisans is a unique opportunity for creators, craftspeople, and cultural workers to practice and perfect their craft; a space for renewal, meetings, and exchanges that encourages the development of professional practice through specific and cross-disciplinary training and opportunities to discover and learn about new and emerging practices.
Focus
The development of skills associated with a discipline represented by its mandate. Participants have skills and experience related to this discipline.
Development of skills associated with several disciplines represented by their commission. Participants have skills and experience related to one or more of the disciplines covered by the programme’s mandates.
Acquisition of skills associated with one or more new practices. Participants have skills related to one or more of the disciplines covered by the programme’s mandates.
Experimentation associated with a discipline represented by its commission. Participants have a minimum level of skill and experience in one or more of the disciplines covered by the programme’s mandates. Certain exceptions may apply.
A festive event where the general public and participants are invited to discuss issues and interests addressed in the programme.
Areas of concentration
The production and design workshops will aim to support the attraction and retention of performing artists and artisans by addressing the critical issues of workforce attrition while also providing workers with the tools to develop their practice.
The theatre workshops will focus primarily on acting by offering professionals the opportunity to return to the basics in a demanding context, where certain technical skills inherent to the profession will be revisited with the aim of maintaining and consolidating skills through contact with recognised mentors.
The dance workshops will open up new horizons for choreographic artists, both in terms of technical skill and the discovery of new choreographers. By basing this development on the progression of our artists, we are banking on a future where artists will be competitive in employment throughout Quebec.
The circus arts workshops will allow artists to refine their many skills and deepen their knowledge. They will develop a variety of techniques by tackling different disciplines and aspects of the circus arts, allowing them to fully embrace the versatility and agility required to practice their art.
The Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Commission proposes an active engagement with artists and artisans who challenge the aesthetic, linguistic and cultural center in the Quebec context in order to ensure a better representation and involvement of marginalized people in the Eastern Townships region.
