Creation week with Daniela Graça Schankula
In this workshop participants will explore a process in which they instantly create movement and space compositions by: learning tools for improvisation and decision making cultivating perception of inner and outer space working on expanding own movement patterns creating tools to develop movement materials finding awareness and availability for action and reaction communicating with the room and the people around you listening developing a sense for composition making and observing compositions creating performative guidelines, based on agreements established each day.
Prerequisites
Experienced dancer. Workshop given in English. Good knowledge of English.

Daniela Graça Schankula
Dancer, teacher, choreographer She was a member of two repertoire companies, in Portugal and the Netherlands, and danced in works by various renowned choreographers and directors, including Anouk van Dijk, Merce Cunningham, Rui Horta, Mark Haim, Amanda Miller, Leine/Roebana and Peter Sellars. Most recently, Daniela was seen in “GÖTZIN” by theatre director Jan Struckmeier and “is there a world beyond the image” by choreographer Stephanie Felber. She has also performed with various dance and music improvisation artists. Daniela has choreographed several pieces and shown them at festivals in England, Italy, and the Netherlands. In Munich, her hometown, she has shown her own productions in the Schwere Reiter Theater and choreographed pieces on behalf of the Dance Theater of Munich. Most recently, she choreographed for the project “Tasting Water” by Manasvini Eberl. She is a guest teacher at various high-ranking European companies and universities. For ten years she was a lecturer in ballet and contemporary dance at the Amsterdam University of the Arts. In dance education institutions Daniela also gives the workshops: “Better Awareness through Ballet and Improvisation” and “Dance and Alexander Technique”.
